E-Learning Day: January 26, 2026

Urbana School District will have an E-Learning Day on Monday, January 26. All Urbana School District buildings will be closed. All evening events and extracurricular activities are canceled.

This decision has been made to ensure the safety of our students and staff, particularly our walkers and bus riders. The current forecast for Monday calls for wind chill values of at least -20 degrees. In these extreme temperatures, frostbite can occur in as little as 30 minutes; the risk is even greater for students walking without hats, gloves, or a proper coat.

PreK through 5th-grade students should work on the E-learning packets sent home earlier this school year, specifically the third lesson. If you cannot locate your student’s packet, you can find E-Learning choice boards on our website: E-Learning Days (Weather) – Urbana School District 116.

Students in grades 6-12 should check Google Classroom for posted information or assignments. (Look for the topic labeled “E-Learning.) Teachers will be available remotely during set office hours for students who need help or have questions. This information will be posted in your student’s Google Classroom by the start of the regular school day.

All students have three days after returning to school to receive written feedback for work completed. Students must turn in completed e-learning work to the teacher within three days for their attendance to count.  If work is not turned in, the student will receive an unexcused absence for the E-Learning day.
