Urbana Early Childhood School (UECS)
Urbana Early Childhood School is for children ages 3-5. UECS serves linguistically and culturally diverse populations and supports families in maintaining and developing their home language and culture in order to give linguistically and culturally diverse children equitable opportunities to succeed socially, emotionally, and academically and to enable linguistically and culturally diverse families to participate in the education of their children.
Half-day sessions in Spanish or English: 9-11:30 a.m. or 1-3:30 p.m. (2 1/2 hours a day)
Yankee Ridge Dual Language School
Yankee Ridge Elementary school offers a Spanish and French Two-Way Immersion (Dual Language) program for Kindergarten through 5th grades.
Spanish Dual Language: Students in the Spanish DL Program are taught in Spanish and in English through a 90/10 model. The following chart shows the Spanish DL program structure for students in K-5.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School
Dr. King Elementary School offers the multicultural program for all students who speak another language that is different than English as their first language. Dr. King school offers English as a Second Language (ESL) classes for students in K-5 through pull out and push in instruction. Native Language instruction is also available for some of the native languages spoken by the students.
Urbana Middle School
Urbana Middle School offers a Two-Way Immersion Program for Spanish speakers as well as an ESL Program for all other English Language Learners. The program provides a content area approach to language development for students with limited proficiency in English. Courses are offered in science, history, geography, and English, with the emphasis on both understanding of content and language acquisition. These classes may include students from grades six to eight. Students complete their schedules with instruction in mainstream classes. Students that have participated in the Spanish K-5 Two Way Immersion Program can elect to participate in classes that focus on the Spanish native language, cultures, and history of both the students’ native country and the United States.

Urbana High School
Urbana High School offers a Two-Way Immersion program for Spanish speakers as well as an ESL program for all other English Language Learners. The program provides a content area approach to language development for students with limited proficiency in English. Courses are offered in science, history, geography, and English, with the emphasis on both understanding of content and language acquisition. These classes may include students from grades nine to twelve. Students complete their schedules with instruction in mainstream classes. All ELLs are transitioned into a full grade level program of study when appropriate.
