The Urbana School District #116 Board of Education is opening applications in anticipation of a vacancy for the Sub-District 4 Board of Education Seat. The interview process will occur in May, after the new Board is seated. The person appointed will serve until April 2025.
At a minimum, applicants for the School Board position must:
- Be a United States Citizen
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be a resident of Illinois and the District for at least one year immediately preceding the appointment
- Be a resident of sub-district 4
- Be a registered voter
- Not be a child sex offender
- Not hold another incompatible public office
- Not have a prohibited interest in any contract with the District
- Not hold certain types of prohibited State or federal employment
Applicants should show familiarity with the Board’s policies regarding general duties and responsibilities of a School Board and a School Board member, including fiduciary responsibilities, conflict of interest, ethics and gift ban. The Board’s policies are available on the USD #116 website.
Statement of Interest forms may be picked up at 211 N. Race St., Urbana, IL 61801 beginning Wednesday, April 5.
Applicants must submit a completed statement of interest, resume and a letter that includes their reasons for wanting to serve on the Urbana School District #116 Board of Education. The application deadline will be announced after the new Board is seated.
Interviews will be conducted during a special meeting of the Board of Education, date and time to be determined.
