Hundreds of Urbana families had a full Thanksgiving Dinner thanks to the generosity of several community partners. 

Three hundred families were invited by school social workers to pick up turkeys and Meijer gift cards ahead of the holiday.  It’s the second year of the initiative, made possible through the District’s partnership with Stone Creek Church, who provided the turkeys and gift cards, and the University of Illinois Office of Volunteer Programs, who fundraises for the event year-round. 

Superintendent, Dr. Ivory-Tatum was joined by staff volunteers and students from the African American Club and Student Senate for a two-hour stretch on Nov. 17. This event served as a lead-in to Stone Creek’s Big Give.
