Thomas Paine Principal and UMS Assistant Principal to begin in July

The Urbana Board of Education approved the appointment of Ms. Andrea Jackson as the next Principal of Thomas Paine Elementary School and Ms. Julia Lowry as the next Assistant Principal at Urbana Middle School. 

Jackson is currently the Assistant Principal at Thomas Paine Elementary. She began her career as a 2nd grade teacher at Thomas Paine Elementary and later served at the Urbana School District Family Engagement and Curriculum Coordinator, prior to becoming Assistant Principal.

Jackson holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign in International Resource and Consumer Economics, a teaching license in Elementary Education from Millikin University and a Master’s degree in Education Administration from the University of Illinois.

She will begin her role as Principal of Thomas Paine Elementary in July 

Julia Lowry will also begin her duties as Assistant Principal at Urbana Middle School in July. Lowry has worked  at Urbana Middle School for 12 years, the last seven as an Instructional Coach. She also serves as ELA Curriculum Coordinator, RTI Co-Coordinator, School Improvement Team member and UEA Vice President. Ms. Lowry began her career as an English Language Arts and Social Studies Teacher.
