Four Urbana residents applied and met the criteria to fill the Urbana District #116 Board of Education vacancy in Sub-District 4.
The applicants are Lisa Bouillion Diaz, Lola Jones, Paul Myers, and Mabruka Yazidi.
- Bouillon Diaz is an Assistant Dean and Director of the University of Illinois Extension 4-H program. Bouillon Diaz has three children who have attended Urbana Schools. She has also served on the PTSA at all levels.
- Jones is a School Bus Driver with First Student in Urbana and an Urbana High School alum. She has experience in social services and is an election volunteer.
- Myers is a Researcher with Marzano Research focusing on education and education policy. He previously worked at Dr. Williams Elementary and has two students who have attended Urbana Schools.
- Yazidi is a Registered Nurse Navigator. She currently has one child attending Urbana Schools and is an active member of the PTA. Yazidi is co-chair of the Mills National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) Community Outreach Committee.
A public forum moderated by the League of Women Voters of Champaign County will be held during a special Board of Education meeting on June 5, 2023, at 5:30 p.m. in the Boardroom at 205 N. Race St. The public is encouraged to submit questions to contactus@usd116.org until 5 p.m. on June 4, 2023.

The Board of Education will also interview each candidate during a closed session immediately after the Forum. Following the closed session interviews, the Board will reconvene in an open session to announce the appointment of the Sub-District 4 member. The newly appointed member will take the Oath of Office during the June 6 Study Session. This appointment will run until April 2025.
