Applications for the vacant Sub-District 4 Board of Education Seat must be submitted by Friday, May 26 at 4 p.m.
Statement of Interest forms may be picked up at 211 N. Race St. in Urbana during regular business hours. Applicants must submit a completed statement of interest, resume and a letter that includes their reasons for wanting to serve on the Urbana School District #116 Board of Education.
Interviews will take place during a Special Board of Education Meeting on Monday, June 5, time to be determined.
The selected candidate will be seated in June. The person appointed will serve until April 2025.
At a minimum, applicants for the School Board position must:
- Be a United States Citizen
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be a resident of Illinois and the District for at least one year immediately preceding the appointment
- Be a resident of sub-district 4
- Be a registered voter
- Not be a child sex offender
- Not hold another incompatible public office
- Not have a prohibited interest in any contract with the District
- Not hold certain types of prohibited State or federal employment
Applicants should show familiarity with the Board’s policies regarding general duties and responsibilities of a School Board and a School Board member, including fiduciary responsibilities, conflict of interest, ethics and gift ban. The Board’s policies are available on the USD #116 website.
