The Urbana Board of Education approved the appointment of the District’s Chief Financial Officer at its Jan. 18 Board of Education meeting.

After a nationwide search, Ms. Caty Roland was selected to replace Carol Baker, who is retiring in March after almost 29 years of service to USD #116.

Ms. Roland is an Urbana native and Urbana Schools alumna. She currently serves as the Business Manager and Superintendent of Business Services for the Urbana Park District and has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the annual audit for each year she administered. Roland also serves as the Treasurer of the Environmental Education Association of Illinois, a state-wide network of formal and non-formal environmental educators.  

Ms. Roland has a Master of Science in Recreation, Sport and Tourism, an Accounting Certificate from Parkland College and has a Certified Public Account (CPA) designation.

Ms. Roland will work alongside Ms. Baker as her schedule allows this spring during the transition of the Chief Financial Officer position.
