The Urbana Board of Education has approved the appointments of Mr. Craig Keer as the next Principal and Mrs. Emily Reilly as the next Assistant Principal of Leal Elementary, effective July 29, 2024.
Keer is currently the principal at Carrie Busey Elementary in Champaign. Under his leadership, the school has been recognized as an exemplary school three times. Keer has 25 years of experience in education and 16 years of experience as a principal.
Reilly has been a third-grade teacher at Carrie Busey Elementary for the last six years. She has also worked in various classrooms from kindergarten through eighth grade and in a summer reading program with elementary students.
Reilly holds a Master of Education in Education Policy and Leadership from the University of Illinois and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with an endorsement in Language Arts.
