U-nite Urbana: Urbana School District to connect with families through Community Resource Walk

Urbana School District is looking for volunteers for the upcoming Community Resource Walk in the Dr. Preston Williams Elementary School community. The walk is scheduled for Wednesday, August 7, 2024, from 6-7 p.m. This initiative aims to provide our families with resources and information as the new school year approaches.

The Community Resource Walk will focus on the walking zones closest to Dr. Williams School: Prairie Green, Rainbow View area, Austin and Lierman areas, and east of the school. In order to cover the greatest number of houses, USD #116 is looking for volunteers to help deliver resource bags to families. Volunteers can also assist with check-in and bag distribution. Volunteers from Stone Creek Church, Urbana Park District, and the City of Urbana are also joining the walk.

“We are grateful for the support of our community partners and volunteers as we prepare to welcome students back to school,” said Danielle Jackson, Principal of Dr. Williams Elementary School. “Their involvement in the Community Resource Walk ensures that our families receive the information and support they need for a successful school year.”

To sign up to volunteer, please register by Monday, August 5: Volunteer for the DPW Community Resource Walk. Volunteers who register by Sunday, July 21 will receive a t-shirt to wear during the walk to identify you as a volunteer.

Urbana School District appreciates the community’s support as we ensure all students are prepared for the upcoming school year.
