Urbana Alumna Named Special Education Administrator 

The Urbana Board of Education approved the appointment of Jacquelyn Douglas as the Special Education Administrator, effective July 23, 2024. 

Douglas is currently an assistant principal at Garden Hills Academy and has also served as the school’s social worker. She began her educational career in 2009 as a behavior intervention specialist with the READY Program in Champaign. In addition to her role as assistant principal, Douglas coaches the Urbana Middle School volleyball team and track and field team. 

Douglas has vast knowledge of special education services, culturally responsive teaching, and trauma-informed practices. She has recently received the Illinois State Board of Education Meritorious Award and was named a Central Illinois Business 40 under 40 recipient.
