School Board Elections
The interactive map of Urbana, Illinois below shows the boundaries of each of the seven (7) USD #116 Board of Education Sub-Districts as of 2022.
Running for Office
The next consolidated election will be held April 1, 2025. Prospective school board candidates may visit the Illinois State Board of Elections website at www.elections.il.gov for information regarding School Board Elections.
The following Sub-Districts will have an open seat in 2025:
- Sub-District 1
- Sub-District 2
- Sub-District 4
- Sub-District 6
Petition Circulation
Petition circulation begins on August 20, 2024, for school board candidates for the April 1, 2025 election. The first day that petitions can be filed is November 12, 2024, and the last day of filing is November 18, 2024. IASB has compiled a list of Key Dates for School Board Candidates that are running in the 2025 Consolidated Election.
Qualifications
To be eligible for election to the board, a person shall be a citizen of the United States, shall have been a resident of the district for at least one year immediately preceding the election, and shall not be a child sex offender as defined in Section 11-9.3 of the Criminal Code of 2012.
