Martin Luther King Jr. Day Events
There is no school and District offices will be CLOSED on Monday, Jan. 16 in honor of the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday. We invite all of our families to participate in one of the many events happening in honor of this day.
- MLK Countywide Celebration Jan. 15: Five Urbana High School Students will be recognized as “Living The Dream” Scholarship recipients at the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Countywide Celebration on January 15 at the Krannert Center for Performing Arts. Doors open at 4 p.m. The ceremony starts at 5 p.m. This event is free and open to the public. Read more: https://usd116.org/mlkscholarship23/\
- Unity Breakfast Jan. 16: The annual Unity Breakfast is January 16 at 8:30 a.m. at Vineyard Church of Central Illinois. This event is free and open to the public.
- UHS Day of Service Jan. 16: The public is invited to attend an MLK Day of Service hosted by the Urbana High School Interact Civic Engagement Club on Monday, Jan. 16. in the UHS Commons. The program starts at 10:30 a.m. with a student musical performance, includes lunch and finishes with an afternoon of service. See flyer below for more information.
- Blood Drive Jan. 16: An Urbana High School student is putting together a blood drive on MLK Day at King Elementary from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. First or second time donors will receive a $25 gift card. - Community Walk for Peace Jan. 16: Join various community organizations in a Walk for Peace at noon on Jan. 16. The walk begins and ends at Martin Luther King Jr. park in Urbana. See flyer below for more information.
