Community Sessions: Learn more about the process for the BOE sub-district redistricting.

The 2020 Census data indicates that School Board Member Districts have grown disproportionately over the past decade, thereby requiring redistricting in 2021 to achieve greater equality between Districts. The USD #116 Board of Education (BOE) intends to approve an updated sub-district apportionment map by the close of the 2021 calendar year.

There will be two opportunities for the public to learn how to create and submit a map. The first is on Tues., Dec. 7 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the Board Room, 205 N. Race St.  The second training session is Dec. 13 from 6-7 p.m. at King Elementary, 1108 Fairview Ave.

You can find the current sub-districts as well as directions on how Urbana citizens can participate in the process to draw maps for the new Board sub-districts on the USD #116 Redistricting web page. The District will also be creating maps algorithmically based on the six criteria.
