UHS announces new principal, Deloris Brown

Urbana School District #116 is pleased to announce Ms. Deloris Brown as the new Principal of Urbana High School.  Ms. Brown starts her new duties as principal on July 9, 2018.

Ms. Deloris Brown was recently hired as the Vice Principal of Urbana High School.  Prior to coming to Urbana, Ms. Brown was the Principal of Stephen Decatur Middle School  in Decatur, Illinois for five years. During last two years, Stephen Decatur Middle School has shown academic gains and climate improvement that would only be possible through the cooperation and support of her teachers. She places a great importance in being visible in classrooms, hallways and at athletic events. She has demonstrated the ability to build a leadership team which continually engaged with staff, students and parents in order to promote a supportive and collaborative culture.

Her academic career includes earning a Master of Science in Educational Administration from Illinois State University in 2010, and a Bachelor of Science in History Education and Political Science from Illinois State University in 2007.  Ms. Brown is currently a Doctoral student at Illinois State University, working towards an Ed.D. She was awarded Illinois State University Education Administration and Foundation’s Principal of the Year in 2016 and the Foundation’s Patricia H. Klass & Linda L. Lyman Endowed Scholarship for 2015-2016.

Ms. Brown’s position will be in front of the Board of Education at the August 7, 2018 Board Meeting.  Please join me in congratulating Ms. Deloris Brown, and welcoming her as principal of Urbana High School!
