Urbana Early Childhood School provides quality, individualized learning programs for eligible preschool children through innovative classroom activities that focus on child development.

KING JR. ELEMENTARY

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary students come from over 50 countries and speak more than 40 languages. The multicultural, multilingual nature of the school population provides a rich learning environment for Dr. King students.

LEAL
ELEMENTARY

Leal Elementary School is one of five neighborhood schools serving the students in kindergarten through fifth grade in Urbana, Illinois. Located in the state street area of Urbana, this example of Depression-era WPA project is one of two Urbana schools that house the elementary Dual Language program.

THOMAS PAINE
ELEMENTARY

As a community, Thomas Paine Elementary School works collectively acquiring knowledge, developing skills, and building character while respecting cultural diversity and individuality to achieve personal greatness to lead to a more equitable society.

DR. PRESTON L. WILLIAMS JR
ELEMENTARY

Dr. Preston L. Williams Jr Elementary School is one of five neighborhood schools serving the students in kindergarten through fifth grade in Urbana, Illinois. Named after a retired administrator, coach, and the first African-American Superintendent of the Urbana School District, the former Prairie Elementary shares the Prairie Campus with the Urbana Early Childhood School.

YANKEE RIDGE
ELEMENTARY

Yankee Ridge was recently remodeled in 2018 to provide students with a fresh and innovative learning environment.  A shining star in the Urbana community, Yankee Ridge is proud to offer the district’s only French Dual Language program.

SCHOOL

Urbana Middle School is a Urbana School District #116 with the missions of fostering academic excellence and social-emotional intelligence built on high expectations and accountability for all. UMS is set out to be a leading middle school that provides an equitable, engaging, and collaborative community of learning for all. 

URBANA HIGH
SCHOOL

Urbana High School is the only public high school serving the children of Urbana. Conveniently located on Race Street right beside Urbana Middle School, UHS houses a student body of over 1,100 diverse students who participate in an award-winning marching band, active sports teams, and innovative academic programs. 

URBANA ADULT
EDUCATION

The Urbana Adult Education Center has provided educational and career services to residents of Champaign County and surrounding communities in East Central Illinois for over 50 years.  Our program is primarily grant funded and has partnered with the Urbana School District #116 since 1963.

TIGER ACADEMY

Tiger Academy houses the USD #116 Alternative Education Day Time Program and the After School & Summer Freedom Schools® (FS) Program.

The Alternative Education Program is a part-time hybrid model between in person learning at UMS/UHS, homebound (voluntary or expelled), and/or alternative education for partial days.

Freedom Schools® is an 8th-12th grade program that focuses on teaching and fostering black excellence, culturally responsive social/emotional learning, restorative practices/conflict resolution, financial literacy, and civic engagement through service learning projects in the community.

WINIFRED GERBER
SCHOOL

Gerber School is a unique collaboration between Urbana School District and Cunningham Children’s Home designed to provide special education services to the Cunningham students who require a more intensive level of academic and/or behavioral support.

Urbana School District #116 is a unit district located in east central Illinois.
