All Families are Welcome
National African American Parent Involvement Day
Dear Dr. King Parents,
It’s that time of year that we celebrate family and community together. On Monday, February 12, 2018 our school we will be hosting the annual National African American Parent Involvement Day luncheon. Joe Dulin started the NAAPID, in 1995, he thought that, “the parents were among a school most important asset”. He also believed that this is a day for all parents to interact with teachers and other parents in the community. This is to promote the family educational involvement here and across the nation.
We are encouraging parents to visit their children’s classrooms, help support projects that your child will be working on for the month of February, get to know other parents while enjoying a soul food meal during your child’s lunch period. We will be giving out tokens of our appreciation along with information on ways to help your child succeed in reading, math and science. Information on PTO, meetings, concerts, dances and other events happening at our school, will be provided as well.
Attached to this letter you will find your RSVP for you and other members of your family. Remember all parents and friends are welcome. Please fill out and return ASAP so we will know how many will be joining us for the feast. We are increasing parental and community involvement in schools one child at a time.
We hope to see you there!!
