Urbana 116 Board Announces Superintendent Search Finalists
The Urbana School District 116 Board of Education announces three finalists in their search for a new Superintendent of Schools.
In no particular order, they are:
- Dr. Brian Metcalf, Managing Director of Impact, City Year Chicago
- Dr. Jennifer Ivory-Tatum, Assistant Superintendent of Achievement and Student Learning, Champaign Unit District 4
- Mr. Kirk Koennecke, Superintendent, Graham School District, St. Paris, Ohio
Complete bios of all finalists are attached.
The Board narrowed the field to three after interviewing a slate of six candidates recommended by consultants with SCHOOL EXEC CONNECT, who are assisting the Board in the search.
Committees representing staff, administrators, parents, and community members will interview each of the three finalists and give immediate input to the Board of Education. After conducting a second interview with each of the three finalists on May 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, and going through an extensive vetting process, the Board expects to take formal action on the new superintendent’s contract during the week of May 12th. The successful candidate will begin his or her duties on July 1, 2019.
The Board of Education would like to thank the hundreds of students, staff, parents, and community members who participated in the online survey, targeted focus groups, and open forums. This input helped create the Superintendent Profile that guided and continues to guide the Board of Education in this important endeavor.
Dear USD#116 Community
The Urbana School District #116 Board of Education has begun the search process for a new superintendent for the 2019-2020 school year. We have selected School Exec Connect, an educational search firm, to assist us in this process.
We are interested in receiving your input about the new superintendent. We would appreciate it if you would take five minutes to fill out an online survey. The survey (available from February 25 – March 8, 2019) can be accessed by visiting the below URLs:
In addition to the survey, if you would like to provide input on the district’s strengths, the district’s challenges, and the skills and characteristics the next superintendent should possess, the School Exec Connect consultants invite you to attend the open forum at UHS Auditorium on March 6th at 6:00 pm.
Findings from the survey, the open forums, and several focus group conversations will be used to develop a New Superintendent Profile that will be reported to the Board on March 12, 2019.
As we move forward, our most important consideration is securing the strongest candidate pool, and ultimately the best person, to lead our District. To that end, the Board of Education has decided to conduct a confidential search and only the three finalist candidates’ names will be announced publicly.
The Board of Education looks forward to your support and assistance with this very important undertaking. Please feel free to contact the lead consultant assisting us if you have any questions or comments regarding the search: Ms. Diane Robertson email@example.com.
We look forward to your input as we search for a new superintendent to lead Urbana School District #116.
