Urbana – Urbana School District #116 is pleased to announce the Urbana Middle School Band, under the direction of Band Director Karen DeBauche, has the Music Education Alliance 2018-2019 Dr. William P. Foster Project Award of Excellence Division Winner.
Ms. DeBauche was the single winner from the North Central Division. There are a total of five division winners who will be for the Dr. William P. Foster Project Award of Excellence National Award. The National Award will be announced at the Midwest Clinic Reception: A Celebration of Musical Excellence, Diversity and Inclusion held by the Midwest Clinic on Thursday, December 20 at 8:30pm (after the Japanese band concert). All division winners in attendance will be recognized at this reception, as well as the National Band Association (NBD) General Membership Meeting and Reception and the College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA) Forum held that week.

The Dr. William P. Foster Music Education Alliance “Award of Excellence” recognizes quality programs serving historically disadvantaged student populations. This exciting initiative honors select educators, and their band programs, which are challenging students and reaching a high level of excellence.”
