Our 2nd District wide Parent Academy is Tuesday, October 2, 2018 from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at Urbana Middle School. The focus of the Fall Parent Academy is curriculum and special education for all grade levels in the Urbana School District #116. This includes early childhood through high school.
Workshops at the Parent Academy will include Basics of Special Education, Speech Sound Expectations for Early Childhood Students, and Eureka Math: Helpful Online Resources to Use at Home. A full list of workshops can be found in the booklet link below. The workshops are 35 minutes each and are offered in two session: 6:15pm to 6:50pm and 6:55pm to 7:30pm. Dinner will be provided from 5:30pm to 6:00pm and there will be childcare available for children ages 3 to 12.
The Resource Fair will be in the UMS gym from 5:00pm to 6:15pm. This will include community organizations such as Champaign-Urbana Public Health, Dream Girls Academy, Salt & Light, and The Urbana Neighborhood Connection Center, among others. There will also be USD #116 representatives from Urbana Adult Education, various PTAs and PTSAs, Technology, and Human Resources.
The Spring Parent Academy will be held Saturday, March 2, 2019 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. The focus will include social emotional learning and behavior support for students from early childhood to high school.
